Final Fantasy VII: Chapter 20
The rocket was impressive simply by scale, over a hundred meters tall, and 33 feet across the diameter. But it was leaning precariously, on the launch pad, against the support scafolding that had been errected around it, rusted and worn like a huge childs forgotten toy. It was still awesome, but at the same time very sad.
Once in town, they split up as usual. Each of them headed off to check the different shops and chat people up for the news, asking if anyone had seen a tall man in a black coat.
Cloud just looked up at the rocket. He had the distinct impression that Sephiroth wasnt here, but he had said he would be here.

The Reactor was functional again. Cloud could tell by the steam rising up from the peak of mountain. Over the bridge, they passed through the old Mako pit, the one that had been active when the Reactor had first been built, but had since gone dry and been disconected. Traveling amidst the stained and worn piping, Cloud made straight for the door set into the side of the cavern. The Reactor looked exactly as it had when he had first seen it, the exterior rusted by long years of exposure to the harsh winds and rain. It was a bifferent design than the ones they had been in in Midgar, and the one they had seen in Corel. This was Reactor No.

"Midgar is so cold on nights like this," she observed, kneeling beside a Mako furnace in the alley beside Goblin's Bar, in the entertainment block of Sector 8's plate. She was chilly, in her short-sleeved demi-jacket, but despite the cool air she was smiling. It was already spring, and her flowers were blooming again down in the church in Sector 5. Her flowers were the only plants that flourished in Midgar. Even in the homes of the wealthy, real live plants did not last long. Midgar was a place of people and machines. The rats in the slu

The slums of Midgar wound across the earth in the shadow of the plate. They had once been villages in their own right, with names and histories, but now they existed as a single labyrinth, re-constructed from salvaged scrap left over from the building of the plate and the reactors. In these buildings of discarded debris lived the discarded people, the poor souls trapped between the iron sky and the barren land. Cloud made his way leisurely along the packed dirt street. His confidant stride and steely expression was more than enough to ward off the muggers that hid, waiting amongst the heaps of rubbish, and the huge sword o

The darkness was not absolute. It swirled, like a thick viscous liquid, so black it was almost green. Everywhere there were soft whispering voices, almost beyond the range of perception. He felt warm and heavy, like he could just keep sinking through this blackness forever.
Then a voice spoke to him. It was not the same half-remembered voice that he had heard in the Sector 1 reactor, but again he thought that he knew it. It sounded young, like a boy, but it spoke strongly. "You all right?" it asked. "Can you hear me?"
"Yeah, I hear you," Cloud responded. There was no one around, only the infinite darkness.

Aeris was waiting outside the gates of the large shopping district when Cloud caught up with her. This was Wall Market, and it was possible to get anything here, if you were willing to pay enough for it.
"This place really is dangerous for a girl on her own," Aeris admitted, catching hold of his arm. "We've got to find Tifa fast."
Cloud just nodded, taking in the bustle and the neon lights of the crowded sector. It wasn't all that much cleaner than Sector 5, though it was definitely two steps up from the squalor of Sector 7. People milled about, haggling and arguing, perusing merchandise, or just loitering abou

Cloud and Tifa ran up the spiraling metal staircase that wound its way up beside the concrete pillar of Sector 7. Above them, they could hear the sprays of gunfire from the fight at the top, and that only lent more urgency to their breakneck pace. Cloud almost tripped over a body laying across one of the landings, and looked down to see Biggs.
"Hey," he knelt, his fingers checking the man's throat for a pulse, it was there, but barely. Tifa, already halfway up the next flight, looked down in confusion to see why he had stopped.
"So you don't care," Biggs started, his satisfied smirk still mostly a grimace of pai

"Good morning!" Marlene chirruped loudly in his ear with every ounce of her four year old enthusiasm. Cloud pushed himself up in startled alarm, whacking the back of his head on the bottom of the table and falling on his face back into the pile of extra bedding he had spent the night curled up in. With a pained surly moan, he crawled out from under the table. "Who set you on hyper this morning?" he demanded of the child, as she raced up the stairs.
"That would be me," Tifa replied with a laugh, wiping her hands on a dish rag as she came out of the kitchen. "Good morning." She'd changed back into her own clothes, new

The only people in the hall outside the conference room were a business man in a suit, and a secretary in a short skit who was unknowingly distracting the man. Cloud, Barret and Tifa made it from the elevator down the hall on the left unnoticed. They checked out the bathroom, as Mayor Domino had suggested, and noticed a ventilation duct in the ceiling above one of the stalls.
"Damn," Barret exclaimed. "I hate crawlin' around these clausterphobic little pipes."
"Can't be helped," Cloud shrugged. "You go first. It'll be easier to give you a boost up than try to haul you from inside."
"A boost?" Barret jee

The long hallway on floor 67 led past the studies of Professor Hojo's assistants to a small cell block. The doors were solid and windowless, so they were unable to see whether the other cells were occupied or not as they were led past. They were unbound and pushed into a cell one at a time, Cloud and Tifa in the second cell, Barret and Red XIII in the third. The rooms were sparse, with one fold up cot, a toilet, and a sink each.
Tifa wandered vaguely over to the cot, pulling it down from the wall and sitting on it, letting her feet swing. Cloud leaned against the locked door, slamming his fist back against it in pent
