Purple Gown

I design a lot of Princess Fantasy dresses. Mostly because that is what I like wearing For this one I patterned a variant on the empire/late Italian renaissance waistline.

I love high waistlines, especially when designing for plus sizes (like me XD) because they tend to emphasize the bust, deemphasize the waist and hips, and elongate the legs. This makes it a good choice for people who are short, bottom heavy, or just thick waisted. The downside is often the skirt just hangs from a high waistline like a bag, which can make you look pregnant (which was a plus at the time) and doesn't show off a lot of curves.

I actually have curves, they are just fat-girl curves. And designing dresses is all about choosing how to show off which curves, and distract people from the others. So for this gown I gave it a high front, and a low back for some fitting to the spine and ribs. Still emphasizes the bust, but makes the back sexier and shows off the hips and butt while still glossing over any tummy rolls. The faux pregnancy effect is reduced somewhat by princess seaming the skirt to give it some shape at the top, rather than a pleated or circle skirt. I'll probably still look gravid, though

And no, there is not really going to be a cuteymark. The colors just made me think of Twilight Sparkle as I was doodeling this XD. Hopefully there will be pictures of the finished dress in a few days.
