Description

This is the costume I made (finished) for Halloween this year. I figured I might as well enter it in the Historical division of the Halloween costume contest ^_^

I made:
The chemise (which you can't see ;p)- white muslin.
The corset- fully boned tudor tabbed corset (duckcloth, muslin, 1/2 inch cable ties) front lacing
The partlet- sheer crinkle poly, three drawstrings in the neck so it can be worn up (only one tied since I didn't get the ruff made)
The underskirt- 3 panel gold brocade.
The overskirt- cartridge pleated red brocade with a heavy red drapery cotton border, gold gimp braid, hand beaded cream pearls.
The bodice- red brocade and duckcloth lined in cotton, side lacing, trimmed in the same braid as the skirt (taken apart to a smaller width) and more pearls. The front panel is the same cotton as the skirt border, with hand sew gold lattice and pearls, edged in part of the trim resulting from taking apart the wide trim.
The undersleaves- detachable, gold brocade with pearls beaded down the front.
The oversleaves- detachable, laced to the shoulder, red brocade lined in red cotton, trimmed in another part of the taken apart trim, and more pearls
The French hood- Plasticanvas covered in brocade, gold trim and pearls, attached cream snood and white veil (same fabric as partlet)
The brooches- Found a really cool belt, took it apart and glued brooch backings to them
The necklaces- strung pearls, gold beads on the small necklace.

I did not make:
The petticoat. I cheated and bought a bridal hoopskirt ^^,

Interesting tidbit. I'm not wearing colored contacts. My eyes do that whenever a photo is taken with flash ^_^

Edit: it should fullview now.

Hi!

I am in an absolute love with elizabethan dresses for the last few months, and your's is so nice! I am building my own one. But I just cant find a pattern for the overskirt anywhere, and I am terrified to ruin my brocade.

Could you please tell me, is it a half circle? What is it like? Is it several seperate pieces? Could you make me a sketch please how you tailored yours?

I'd be so happy if you could help me. : )
